Singapore Furniture Design Centre (SFDC) Launched in July 1992

Singapore Furniture Design Centre (SFDC), officially launched in July 1992, is a unique initiative of the Singapore Furniture Industries Council (SFIC), the official organisation representing Singapore’s manufacturers and exporters. The SFIC currently represents 95% of furniture manufacturers in Singapore, 60% of whom have subsidiary manufacturing plants in the region; namely Malaysia, Indonesia, China, Vietnam, Myanmar, etc. The Centre is positioned as the premium showcase for every furniture manufacturer in Singapore.

Its objectives are to

Bullet Spacer promote Singapore-designed and made furniture locally and overseas;
Bullet Spacer serve as a permanent one-stop showcase offering a wide range of high-quality, world-class furniture from Singapore manufacturers to retail consumers as well as institutional buyers; and
Bullet   create awareness of the wealth of design and product development talent that is available in the Singapore furniture industry

The formerly SFDC, one of the largest showcase of leading furniture brand names from Singapore, occupies more than 70,000 sq ft of retail space at IMM Building in Jurong. Managed and promoted exclusively by the SFIC, the Centre features the product capabilities from 25 furniture manufacturers over 31 showrooms, all of whom are global leaders in their own right.




The Furniture Square (TFS) - New Name New Identity on 27 October 2000


The SFDC undertake a new name and identity to reflect the strategic changes of the SFIC and the overall furniture industry in Singapore. The SFIC is set to rejuvenate its vision and objectives of the furniture industry to promote it as a knowledge-based technology-driven business that serves the global market.

The SFDC assumed a new identity named “The Furniture Square (TFS)” and a new logo to rebrand itself as a leading-edge design and furniture centre for both consumers and institutional buyers. SFDC also undergo a major physical facelift to present a revitalised and forward-looking image to reflect the new dynamism and energy of the Singapore furniture industry in the New Economy.
